OMG YES!!!

This is the car I learned on, same color, same interior, same trim level. Only my mom's was 1992.

I would totally still rock one.

The speedometer is rather ambitious, no?

I love how Spartan the looks of 80's Japanese cars are. Especially early mazdas. It's like they designed it to be the most basic shape of a car as is possible.

It'll do it, actually. The thing was surprisingly spry. My mother traded it in for a 2002 (?) Corolla. I think she seriously regrets it.

323GTX? I think. Those made brilliant little rally cars.

it'll do 140...? What motor does it have?

1.8 L (1,839 cc) B8 , FI, 16-valve SOHC, 103 hp (77 kW), I think. It depends on where it was sold. 125 hp and 140 hp variations were also available somewhere in some years.

140 doesn't seem possible with 100 hp. I'm sure it was peppy. But 140 is no joke for a 4 cylinder car.

Well, I guess I didn't mean it would top out at 140, just that it was, as you say quite peppy. And given that the car came in 140 hp turbo versions with the same speedometer, I think what you're seeing isn't ambition, so much as a cost cutting part sharing.

I'm going to speak for everyone just ask the question— what's the switch do? Though I'm sure inevitability the answer is going to be less awesome than our imaginations make it.

I've only got it up to about 70mph. it will do more maybe 100mph-110mph but yeah 140? not a chance(not with the 4spd auto that's for sure)

this is a 1.6L sohc with 103hp B6 and not the below mentioned B8 1.8L

My buddy had the exact same car in high school except his was a 5spd stick so this car brings back lots of memories from my youth.

The switch? That's for Nitrous!

Actually that would be a lie. I'm having slight issues with the cooling fan not coming on when it should so I now have the fan wired direct on a switch as a temporary fix.

There was a free 323 changing hands in Albuquerque back when I lived there. Someone on the local forum ended up with it and decided to hand it down to other members. I had the pleasure of taking it down the ol' 1320' one day. I think I ran a 22 something.

I don't know if you plan to drive that through the winter, but I had one of these for snow racing and that short wheel base pivots on a dime when you hit the hand brake. Great little car.
